Clear a path to the indoor unit, whether that is a closet, an attic hatch or a crawlspace door, and pen up any dogs.
I smell gas near my furnace. What do I do?
Get everyone out of the house first. Do not flip switches or light anything. From outside, call 911 or your gas utility and let them shut it down and clear the building. Once they say it is safe, call us and we will look at the heating equipment. Same rule if a carbon monoxide alarm sounds: outside first, emergency call second, us third.
