Duct Replacement

We replace failed and undersized duct systems in homes across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, pulling out crushed, disconnected or mold-stained ducts and installing new trunks, branches and registers. You need replacement when patching stops holding, when crawlspace flex has torn open in several places, or when back bedrooms never get air no matter how the system runs. Call us and we will crawl the space, measure airflow room by room, and tell you honestly whether repair or replacement is the right money.

What a duct replacement actually involves

We start under the house or in the attic with a light and a tape measure, mapping what is there before anything comes out. Then we pull the old flex or sheet metal, rebuild the plenum connections at the air handler, and run properly sized new duct with sealed joints and fresh insulation. Registers and boots get reset so they seal to the floor or ceiling instead of leaking into the framing. Most homes take a day or two depending on the crawlspace and how many runs feed the far end.

What we check and what we install

We check static pressure, return capacity, room by room temperature splits, and the condition of every connection at the trunk. Red clay crawlspaces are hard on duct, so we look for moisture staining, rodent damage and insulation that has slumped off the top of the run. New work gets sized to the system that is actually installed, not the one that was there in 1988. That means correct trunk sizing, added returns where a house is starved, and sealed boots at every register.

How we decide replacement is the right call

If two or three sections have separated and the rest of the duct is sound, we repair and move on. Replacement makes sense when the liner is deteriorating along most of the run, when the system was never sized for the house, or when a room has been uncomfortable for years and no amount of balancing fixes it. We will show you photos from the crawlspace so you can see what we saw. If repair buys you good years, we say so.

Duct Replacement — quick answers

Can you replace part of the duct system instead of all of it?

Often yes. If the trunk is solid and only the branch runs to two bedrooms have failed, we replace those and leave the rest. We only recommend a full replacement when the whole system is the problem.

Will new ducts help my AC keep up in August?

Usually, if leaking or undersized duct was the bottleneck. Air escaping into a crawlspace never reaches your rooms. Sealed, correctly sized duct delivers the cooling your system is already producing.

Do I need to be home during the work?

Someone should be there to let us in and confirm register locations, but you do not have to watch the crawlspace work. We will walk you through the finished system before we leave.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. That gives us a head start on the likely cause.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant performance and the outdoor unit. We work the crawlspace and the attic too, because ductwork and drainage cause more trouble than people expect.

  3. Step 3

You decide, then we fix it

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. No work starts until you say go. Most repairs finish the same visit when parts are on the truck.

Why homeowners call us

  • Mixed heating is normal to usHeat pumps, propane furnaces and dual-fuel setups all behave differently in cold weather. We know how a heat pump should sound in the thirties and when the backup heat is doing too much of the work.
  • We go under the houseRed clay crawlspaces hide crushed ducts, sweating lines and standing water. Comfort problems often start down there, not at the unit, so we look before we start replacing parts you may not need.
  • Plain explanationsYou get told what broke and why, in words that make sense. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging system, we say that out loud so you can plan instead of guessing.
  • One crew, six statesWe serve homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Same approach in every one: show up, diagnose properly, repair what needs repairing, leave the space clean.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
