The duct cleaning symptoms we hear most
- I dust the shelves and two days later they are grey again Return leaks pulling crawlspace or attic dust into the airstream
- Grey fuzz around the register grilles in every bedroom Loaded filter or bypassed filter slot letting dust past into the ducts
- One room smells musty every time the AC kicks on Moisture in a duct run, a crushed boot, or condensation on uninsulated metal
- We remodeled last year and the vents blow drywall dust Construction debris left in the trunk and branch runs
- Allergies are worse indoors than outside Dust and debris loading in the return path and around the blower
Whether you call it duct cleaning, air duct cleaning or vent cleaning, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.
Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.
- 1Change the air filter and note how dark it looks after a few weeks, since a fast-loading filter tells us a lot about what is in the ducts.
- 2Walk the house and confirm supply and return vents are open and not blocked by furniture, rugs or curtains.
- 3Check the thermostat is set to your intended mode and the fan is set to AUTO rather than ON, since a fan running constantly moves more dust.
- 4Clear leaves, grass clippings and mulch away from the outdoor unit so the system is not fighting for airflow while you sort out the dust question.

How do I know if my ducts actually need cleaning?
Pull a register grille off in one bedroom and look inside with a flashlight. Light surface dust is normal. Matted debris, insulation scraps or visible construction waste means it is worth a call. We will look at several runs before recommending anything.
Will duct cleaning fix my dust problem?
Sometimes. If dust keeps returning within days, the cause is often leaking return ducts pulling crawlspace or attic air into the system. Cleaning helps, but sealing the leaks is what stops it. We check for both on the same visit.
How long does a duct cleaning take?
Most homes take several hours depending on the number of registers, the layout of the trunk lines and how much access we have under the house or in the attic. Larger homes with two systems run longer. We give you a time estimate before we start.
Do you clean the vents and registers too?
Yes. Grilles and boots collect the heaviest buildup because that is where air slows down. We pull the covers, clean them and the boot behind them, then reinstall. Cleaning trunk lines without touching the registers leaves the visible dust in place.
How often should ducts be cleaned?
There is no fixed schedule. Most homes go years between cleanings. Reasons to move sooner include a remodel, water intrusion in a crawlspace, rodents in the ductwork, or a long stretch of running the system without a filter in place.
Can dirty ducts affect my heating and cooling bills?
Restricted airflow makes the blower work harder and can cause rooms to fall short of the thermostat setting, so the system runs longer. Debris at the registers and a loaded filter are the usual culprits. We check static pressure to see what the blower is fighting.
How it works
- Step 1
Tell us the symptom
Call or fill in the quote form and describe what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. That gives us a head start on the likely cause.
- Step 2
We diagnose on site
A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant performance and the outdoor unit. We work the crawlspace and the attic too, because ductwork and drainage cause more trouble than people expect.
- Step 3
You decide, then we fix it
We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. No work starts until you say go. Most repairs finish the same visit when parts are on the truck.

Why homeowners call us
- Mixed heating is normal to usHeat pumps, propane furnaces and dual-fuel setups all behave differently in cold weather. We know how a heat pump should sound in the thirties and when the backup heat is doing too much of the work.
- We go under the houseRed clay crawlspaces hide crushed ducts, sweating lines and standing water. Comfort problems often start down there, not at the unit, so we look before we start replacing parts you may not need.
- Plain explanationsYou get told what broke and why, in words that make sense. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging system, we say that out loud so you can plan instead of guessing.
- One crew, six statesWe serve homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Same approach in every one: show up, diagnose properly, repair what needs repairing, leave the space clean.
- All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
- Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
