Top-rated independent heating and cooling across north Georgia and the southern Appalachians

AC Replacement

AC replacement is the job of pulling out a failed or worn-out air conditioner and putting in a new system sized for your house. Homeowners need it when repairs stop holding, when the compressor is gone, or when an old unit on R-22 refrigerant no longer makes sense to keep feeding. We handle replacements for homes across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Call us and we will look at what you have, measure the house, and give you the honest options before anything comes out.

Whether you call it AC replacement, air conditioner replacement or new AC installation, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.

What a replacement day actually involves

We start by protecting floors and clearing a path to the indoor coil or air handler. The old refrigerant is recovered properly, the outdoor unit comes off its pad, and the indoor section comes out. Then we set the new equipment, run new line set or flush the existing lines, make the electrical and drain connections, pull a vacuum, weigh in the charge, and set up the thermostat. Most single-system changeouts finish in a day. Bigger jobs with duct or crawlspace work can run into a second day.

What we check and install

Before we quote anything we look at the whole system, not just the box outside. We check duct sizing and leakage, the condensate path, the pad and clearance around the outdoor unit, the disconnect and breaker, and the return air. Red clay crawlspaces are hard on flex duct and drain lines, so we get under there and look. On installation we replace the line set filter drier, fit a new thermostat if the old one cannot run the equipment, and seal the plenum connections instead of reusing torn tape.

How we decide replacement is the right call

Repair first is our default. We recommend replacement when the compressor has failed, when a leak is inside a coil that costs more than the unit is worth, when the system uses a refrigerant that is no longer practical to source, or when a unit is old enough that the next repair is likely months away. We will tell you if a repair buys you a few more seasons. If your air conditioning repair bills are stacking up every summer, that is usually the signal.

AC Replacement — quick answers

Do I have to replace the indoor unit too?

Almost always, yes. New outdoor units are matched to a specific indoor coil, and mixing old with new causes capacity and drainage problems. We will explain the matching before you decide anything.

Can you reuse my existing ductwork?

Often we can, if the sizing is right and the duct is intact. We inspect it first. Torn crawlspace flex or badly undersized returns get repaired or replaced, otherwise the new system underperforms.

How do I know it is not just a repair?

Let us diagnose it. Many calls that sound terminal turn out to be a capacitor, a contactor, or a clogged drain. We quote air conditioner repair and replacement side by side so you can compare.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. That gives us a head start on the likely cause.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant performance and the outdoor unit. We work the crawlspace and the attic too, because ductwork and drainage cause more trouble than people expect.

  3. Step 3

You decide, then we fix it

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. No work starts until you say go. Most repairs finish the same visit when parts are on the truck.

Why homeowners call us

  • Mixed heating is normal to usHeat pumps, propane furnaces and dual-fuel setups all behave differently in cold weather. We know how a heat pump should sound in the thirties and when the backup heat is doing too much of the work.
  • We go under the houseRed clay crawlspaces hide crushed ducts, sweating lines and standing water. Comfort problems often start down there, not at the unit, so we look before we start replacing parts you may not need.
  • Plain explanationsYou get told what broke and why, in words that make sense. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging system, we say that out loud so you can plan instead of guessing.
  • One crew, six statesWe serve homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Same approach in every one: show up, diagnose properly, repair what needs repairing, leave the space clean.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
