Top-rated independent heating and cooling across north Georgia and the southern Appalachians

Thermostat Installation — Book a Visit Today

We install and replace thermostats, wire smart controls, and set up zoning panels for homes across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Most calls start the same way: the display is blank, the room never hits the setting, or a new smart thermostat came out of the box and the heat pump will not run auxiliary heat correctly. On a visit we check the wiring at both ends, confirm the thermostat matches your equipment (heat pump, propane furnace or dual-fuel), set the staging and changeover, then watch a full cycle before we leave. If your thermostat is acting up, call us and tell us what the screen is doing.

The thermostat installation symptoms we hear most

  • The screen is completely blank Dead batteries, tripped breaker, or a failed low-voltage circuit at the equipment
  • It says 72 but the room feels like 80 Bad sensor, thermostat mounted on a hot wall, or poor location near a supply vent
  • My new smart thermostat runs the heat strips constantly Wrong heat pump configuration or missing changeover wiring after a DIY swap
  • Upstairs cooks while downstairs freezes Single thermostat controlling a two-zone home, or a failed zone damper motor
  • The system short cycles every few minutes Thermostat differential set wrong, loose wire at the terminal, or a control board fault

Search for it as thermostat installation or thermostat replacement and you land in the same place: one visit, one written quote.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Replace the thermostat batteries if it takes them, then see if the display comes back.
  • 2Check the breaker panel for a tripped breaker feeding the indoor unit or air handler.
  • 3Confirm the thermostat is set to heat or cool and the fan is on auto, not off.
  • 4Put in a clean filter and make sure supply and return vents in that room are open.

Thermostat Installation — quick answers

Can I install a smart thermostat myself?

Some homes have the wiring for it and some do not. Heat pumps, dual-fuel setups and zoned systems need staging and changeover set correctly, and a wrong setting can run electric heat strips for hours. We would rather wire it and configure it than fix it later.

Does a smart thermostat need a C wire?

Most do. Older homes across the region were wired with four conductors and no common, so we either pull new low-voltage cable, repurpose an unused conductor, or add an adapter at the equipment. We confirm what you have before we quote a thermostat.

Will a new thermostat fix my uneven temperatures?

Sometimes, if the old one was reading badly or sat in a bad spot. More often uneven rooms come from duct problems or a single thermostat trying to control two floors. Zoning controls with separate thermostats and dampers handle that better.

How long does a thermostat replacement take?

A straight swap on a matched system is usually under an hour, including configuring the equipment type and watching a cycle. Adding a common wire, mounting in a new location or setting up zoning panels takes longer, and we tell you before we start.

What is zoning and does my house need it?

Zoning splits your ductwork into sections with motorized dampers and its own thermostat for each area. It helps two-story homes and additions where one setting never satisfies everybody. We look at your duct layout first, because not every system can be zoned well.

My thermostat is blank and the batteries are new. Now what?

Check the breaker for the indoor unit, then call us. A blank display with good batteries usually points to a low-voltage problem at the equipment, often a blown fuse on the control board or a safety switch that opened. That needs hands on the wiring.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. That gives us a head start on the likely cause.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant performance and the outdoor unit. We work the crawlspace and the attic too, because ductwork and drainage cause more trouble than people expect.

  3. Step 3

You decide, then we fix it

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. No work starts until you say go. Most repairs finish the same visit when parts are on the truck.

Why homeowners call us

  • Mixed heating is normal to usHeat pumps, propane furnaces and dual-fuel setups all behave differently in cold weather. We know how a heat pump should sound in the thirties and when the backup heat is doing too much of the work.
  • We go under the houseRed clay crawlspaces hide crushed ducts, sweating lines and standing water. Comfort problems often start down there, not at the unit, so we look before we start replacing parts you may not need.
  • Plain explanationsYou get told what broke and why, in words that make sense. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging system, we say that out loud so you can plan instead of guessing.
  • One crew, six statesWe serve homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Same approach in every one: show up, diagnose properly, repair what needs repairing, leave the space clean.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
