AC Repair — Book a Visit Today

We handle air conditioning repair on residential systems across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, from a unit that will not start to one that runs all day without cooling the house. Most calls come down to a failed capacitor, a burned condenser fan motor, low refrigerant from a leak, a clogged drain shutting the system off, or a compressor that is drawing too much current. A visit starts with your description of what changed, then we check the thermostat call, the electrical side, airflow at the coil and pressures on the refrigerant circuit. You get told what failed and what it takes to fix it before we touch anything. Call us and we will get a technician out to look.

AC Repair — residential AC being serviced

The AC symptoms we hear most

  • The air coming out feels warm Refrigerant loss, failed compressor or a stuck outdoor unit
  • Outdoor unit hums but the fan sits still Run capacitor or condenser fan motor failure
  • It runs and runs and never hits the set temperature Low charge, dirty coil, or a system undersized for the heat load
  • Breaker keeps tripping when the AC kicks on High amp draw from a hard-starting compressor or a wiring fault
  • Water on the floor near the indoor unit Blocked condensate drain, frozen coil, or a cracked drain pan

Whether you call it air conditioning repair, air conditioner repair, air conditioning service or AC repair, the work is identical and so is the quote you approve first.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Check the thermostat is set to cool with a temperature below the room reading, and put fresh batteries in if the screen is dim or blank.
  • 2Look at your electrical panel for a tripped breaker on the air conditioner circuit. If it trips again after you reset it, stop and call us.
  • 3Pull the air filter. If light will not pass through it, replace it with the same size and see if airflow improves.
  • 4Clear grass clippings, leaves and shrub growth back from all sides of the outdoor unit so it can move air.

AC Repair — quick answers

Why is my AC running but not cooling?

Usually low refrigerant from a leak, a dirty or frozen indoor coil, or a compressor that is no longer pumping. A filter change and clearing the outdoor unit rules out airflow first. Beyond that it takes gauges and meters to find, so call us.

Can you fix a refrigerant leak instead of just adding refrigerant?

Yes, and that is the right approach. Adding refrigerant to a leaking system buys weeks, not seasons. We locate the leak, show you what we found, then repair or replace the failed component and charge the system back to specification.

How fast can you get out for an emergency AC repair?

Call us and we will tell you honestly where you sit in the day's schedule. Summer afternoons across the region fill up fast. Homes with heat-sensitive residents, infants or medical equipment get moved up when we can make it work.

Is it worth repairing an older air conditioner?

It depends on what failed. A capacitor or fan motor on a twelve year old system is usually worth doing. A failed compressor on that same system is a bigger conversation, and we will lay out both the repair and replacement paths.

What is a capacitor and why do they fail so often?

It is the part that gives the motors the jolt they need to start and keeps them turning. Heat wears them down, and long summer runtimes in the Southeast are hard on them. It is a common failure and a straightforward repair.

My outdoor unit is iced up. What should I do?

Switch the system off at the thermostat and let it thaw, then check your filter and make sure supply vents are open. Ice usually means restricted airflow or low refrigerant. Running it frozen risks the compressor, so call us before turning it back on.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. That gives us a head start on the likely cause.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant performance and the outdoor unit. We work the crawlspace and the attic too, because ductwork and drainage cause more trouble than people expect.

  3. Step 3

You decide, then we fix it

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. No work starts until you say go. Most repairs finish the same visit when parts are on the truck.

Why homeowners call us

  • Mixed heating is normal to usHeat pumps, propane furnaces and dual-fuel setups all behave differently in cold weather. We know how a heat pump should sound in the thirties and when the backup heat is doing too much of the work.
  • We go under the houseRed clay crawlspaces hide crushed ducts, sweating lines and standing water. Comfort problems often start down there, not at the unit, so we look before we start replacing parts you may not need.
  • Plain explanationsYou get told what broke and why, in words that make sense. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging system, we say that out loud so you can plan instead of guessing.
  • One crew, six statesWe serve homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Same approach in every one: show up, diagnose properly, repair what needs repairing, leave the space clean.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
