Vent & Register Cleaning

We clean supply vents, return grilles and registers in homes across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, pulling out the dust, pet hair and construction grit that collects at the openings and blows back into your rooms. Homeowners usually call after a remodel, after a move, or when the grilles show grey fuzz within days of wiping them. Give us a call and we will look at the vents, the returns and the filter setup together.

What the job involves

We pull each register and return grille, wash or brush the louvers clean, and vacuum the boot behind it where the debris settles. Crawlspace homes in the region tend to hide red clay dust in those boots, and that is what puffs out when the blower starts. We check that the grille seats flat against the floor or wall, reseal the boot connection if it has worked loose, and put everything back level. Nothing is cut open and nothing is left rattling.

What we check while we are there

Once the grilles are off we can see a fair amount. We look at the filter and its slot for gaps that let unfiltered air past, check whether returns are undersized or blocked by furniture, and note any boot that has pulled away from the subfloor. Damp or musty smells at a floor register usually point to the crawlspace, so we say so plainly. If the ductwork itself is dirty past the boot, we tell you and price out a full duct cleaning separately.

How we decide it is the right call

Vent and register cleaning is the right job when the mess is at the openings and the duct runs are reasonably clean. Grey buildup on the grille faces, dust settling on furniture soon after cleaning, or a recent renovation all point this direction. If we find heavy debris deep in the trunk line, visible moisture, or airflow that is weak at every register, cleaning the grilles alone will not fix it. We would rather tell you that up front than take the work.

Vent & Register Cleaning — quick answers

How often should vents and registers be cleaned?

Most homes do fine every few years, sooner with pets, shedding carpet or a remodel. If you wipe a grille and it looks grey again in a week, that is a reasonable reason to call us out.

Will this fix a room that never gets warm or cool?

Sometimes, if the register or return is packed with debris. More often a weak room comes from duct sizing, leaks or a damper. We check airflow while we are there and tell you what we find.

Do you clean returns as well as supply vents?

Yes. Return grilles usually collect the most, since all the room air passes through them. We clean both sides of the grille and vacuum the cavity behind it before reinstalling.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. That gives us a head start on the likely cause.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant performance and the outdoor unit. We work the crawlspace and the attic too, because ductwork and drainage cause more trouble than people expect.

  3. Step 3

You decide, then we fix it

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. No work starts until you say go. Most repairs finish the same visit when parts are on the truck.

Why homeowners call us

  • Mixed heating is normal to usHeat pumps, propane furnaces and dual-fuel setups all behave differently in cold weather. We know how a heat pump should sound in the thirties and when the backup heat is doing too much of the work.
  • We go under the houseRed clay crawlspaces hide crushed ducts, sweating lines and standing water. Comfort problems often start down there, not at the unit, so we look before we start replacing parts you may not need.
  • Plain explanationsYou get told what broke and why, in words that make sense. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging system, we say that out loud so you can plan instead of guessing.
  • One crew, six statesWe serve homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Same approach in every one: show up, diagnose properly, repair what needs repairing, leave the space clean.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
