Mini-Split Repair — Book a Visit Today

We repair ductless mini-splits and multi-zone systems across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee, and the fastest next step is to call us with the blinking light pattern on the indoor head. Most failures we find fall into a few families: clogged condensate drains that back up into the wall, dirty blower wheels and filters that kill airflow, failed outdoor control boards, low refrigerant charge from a loose flare connection, and communication faults between the outdoor unit and one head on a multi-zone setup. A visit starts with the head that is misbehaving, then we read error codes at the outdoor unit and check pressures and electrical connections. We explain what failed and what the repair involves before we start.

The mini-split symptoms we hear most

  • Water is dripping down the wall under the indoor head Blocked condensate drain line or a sagging drain pan
  • One room stays hot while the other zones cool fine Failed zone valve, stuck indoor blower or a communication fault on that head
  • The indoor unit blinks a light and shuts itself off Error code from the outdoor board, sensor fault or a refrigerant issue
  • Air comes out but the room never gets cold Low refrigerant charge, often a leaking flare fitting or a coil leak
  • The head smells musty every time it starts Biological growth on the evaporator coil and blower wheel

Search for it as mini-split repair or ductless AC repair and you land in the same place: one visit, one written quote.

Safe things to check first

Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

  • 1Check the remote or wall thermostat batteries and confirm the mode is set to cool or heat and not fan only.
  • 2Look at your electrical panel for a tripped breaker feeding the outdoor unit, and reset it once.
  • 3Pull the filter screens out of each indoor head and rinse or replace them if they are grey with dust.
  • 4Clear leaves, red clay splash, grass clippings and any stored items away from the outdoor unit so air moves freely.

Mini-Split Repair — quick answers

Why is my mini-split leaking water inside the house?

Almost always a blocked condensate drain. The head makes water while cooling, and if the line clogs with dust or algae the pan overflows into the wall. Shut the unit off to limit damage and call us to clear the line.

Can one zone be repaired without touching the others?

Often yes. On a multi-zone system each indoor head has its own controls, blower and refrigerant branch, so a single failed head can be repaired on its own. If the fault is in the outdoor unit or shared wiring, it affects every zone.

What do the blinking lights on my indoor unit mean?

They are an error code, and the pattern tells us which family of fault to chase: sensor, communication, refrigerant pressure or board. Count the blinks and tell us when you call. It saves diagnostic time on the visit.

My mini-split heats poorly on cold mornings. Is it broken?

Maybe not. Heat pumps run defrost cycles in the cold and put out cooler air for a few minutes. If the room never recovers, or the outdoor unit stays iced over, that points to a refrigerant or defrost control problem worth a look.

How often do mini-splits need cleaning to avoid repairs?

Rinse the filter screens monthly during heavy use. Deeper cleaning of the blower wheel and coil is a service call, usually once a year in dusty homes or houses with pets. Most airflow complaints we get trace back to skipped cleaning.

Is it worth repairing an older mini-split?

Depends on what failed. Drains, sensors, capacitors and boards are usually straightforward repairs. A leaking indoor coil or failed compressor on an aging system is a bigger decision, and we will walk you through repair versus replacement before anything is ordered.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. That gives us a head start on the likely cause.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant performance and the outdoor unit. We work the crawlspace and the attic too, because ductwork and drainage cause more trouble than people expect.

  3. Step 3

You decide, then we fix it

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. No work starts until you say go. Most repairs finish the same visit when parts are on the truck.

Why homeowners call us

  • Mixed heating is normal to usHeat pumps, propane furnaces and dual-fuel setups all behave differently in cold weather. We know how a heat pump should sound in the thirties and when the backup heat is doing too much of the work.
  • We go under the houseRed clay crawlspaces hide crushed ducts, sweating lines and standing water. Comfort problems often start down there, not at the unit, so we look before we start replacing parts you may not need.
  • Plain explanationsYou get told what broke and why, in words that make sense. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging system, we say that out loud so you can plan instead of guessing.
  • One crew, six statesWe serve homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Same approach in every one: show up, diagnose properly, repair what needs repairing, leave the space clean.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
