Top-rated independent heating and cooling across north Georgia and the southern Appalachians

Whole-Home Dehumidifiers

We install and service whole-home dehumidifiers, the ducted units that pull moisture out of the air across your entire house instead of one room at a time. Homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee call us when the AC runs plenty but the house still feels clammy, when windows sweat, or when a crawlspace smells musty in July. If that sounds like your home, call us and we will measure the humidity before we recommend anything.

What the job involves

A whole-home dehumidifier ties into your existing ductwork and runs on its own control, so it can pull moisture even when the cooling is not calling. We size the unit to your square footage and how leaky the house is, then choose a placement that works with your equipment: a return-side tie-in at the air handler, or a dedicated duct run for a crawlspace or basement. Condensate has to drain somewhere sensible, so we plan that line before we cut anything. Most installs finish in a day.

What we check and install

We start with readings, not guesses. We check indoor relative humidity in a few rooms, look at how long your cooling cycles run, inspect the filter and the return for leaks, and get under the house to see whether red clay ground moisture is feeding the problem. Sometimes a vapor barrier or a duct repair fixes more than a machine would. When a dehumidifier is the answer, we install the unit, the ducting, the drain and the humidistat, then verify it holds your target range.

How we decide it is the right call

Humidity that stays above the mid-fifties through the cooling season is the clearest sign, especially paired with sweating windows, doors that stick, mildew on closet walls, or an oversized AC that satisfies the thermostat in short bursts without drying the air. Shoulder season matters too. In spring and fall across the region, mild days mean little cooling runtime and moisture just sits. If your numbers come back reasonable, we will tell you so and fix the airflow or drainage issue instead.

Whole-Home Dehumidifiers — quick answers

Will my air conditioner alone handle humidity?

Cooling removes some moisture as a side effect, but only while it runs. An oversized system or a mild, damp day means short cycles and little drying. A dehumidifier runs on humidity, independent of temperature.

Where does the water go?

Into a condensate drain we route to an existing drain line, a condensate pump, or outside where grade allows. We plan that path during the estimate, since a bad drain causes more callbacks than the unit itself.

Does it need maintenance?

Yes. The unit has its own filter to change, a coil that collects dust, and a drain that can clog. We check all three during regular heating and cooling service visits.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Tell us the symptom

Call or fill in the quote form and describe what you hear, smell or feel. Warm air, short cycling, a breaker that keeps tripping. That gives us a head start on the likely cause.

  2. Step 2

    We diagnose on site

A technician checks the thermostat, airflow, electrical connections, refrigerant performance and the outdoor unit. We work the crawlspace and the attic too, because ductwork and drainage cause more trouble than people expect.

  3. Step 3

You decide, then we fix it

We explain what failed, what it takes to repair it, and what we would watch next season. No work starts until you say go. Most repairs finish the same visit when parts are on the truck.

Why homeowners call us

  • Mixed heating is normal to usHeat pumps, propane furnaces and dual-fuel setups all behave differently in cold weather. We know how a heat pump should sound in the thirties and when the backup heat is doing too much of the work.
  • We go under the houseRed clay crawlspaces hide crushed ducts, sweating lines and standing water. Comfort problems often start down there, not at the unit, so we look before we start replacing parts you may not need.
  • Plain explanationsYou get told what broke and why, in words that make sense. If a repair is a short-term patch on an aging system, we say that out loud so you can plan instead of guessing.
  • One crew, six statesWe serve homeowners across Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Same approach in every one: show up, diagnose properly, repair what needs repairing, leave the space clean.
  • All major brands, gas & electricOne independent crew for Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem and more.
  • Straight answersNot worth fixing? We say that out loud, and often it saves you the visit fee.
